The New Bentley Continental GT Speed is the most powerful Bentley ever, and it's a hybrid
Bentley has fully revealed the new 2025 Bentley Continental GT, and the speed model produces 782 PS with an "Ultra Performance Hybrid" Powertrain.

It appears that in the transition from the internal combustion era to the inevitable BEV era, many automakers are finding a sweet spot with hybrid powertrains. We've seen high-performance hybrids from the likes of McLaren and Ferrari, with Porsche joining the list with the new 992.2 911 Carrera GTS. Add to that list Bentley, because the new Continental bids farewell to the W12 in favor of a hybrid system.

The hybrid powertrain comprises a 4.0-litre V8 working in conjunction with a 190 PS electric motor. The result is an improved 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds, with the additional benefit of 50 miles up to 87 mph of usable electric-only range. The top speed remains the same at a swift 208 mph. The twin-turbocharged V8 by itself produces 600PS and 800 Nm of torque. Albeit less powerful than the W12 it replaces, the V8 produces a more excitable exhaust note.
Unlike the 911 GTS, the Continental GT is a plug-in hybrid, complete with a large 25.9 KwH battery that contributes to that relatively long electric-only range. Much like the 911, the Continental's hybrid powertrain helps it lower its CO2 emissions.

Changed underneath the skin are accompanied by changes to the skin as well. The new Continental will be the first time since the 1950s that a production Bentley leaves the factory with 2 headlights instead of 4, courtesy of the new horizontal ‘eyebrow that extends from the Matrix LED headlights. The design is primarily very similar to that of the outgoing model, with added side skirts and more aggressive lines embracing the sportier nature of this new Continental. The taillights have a new appearance with a wider graphic stretching into the boot lid. The taillights feature a "three-dimensional diamond pattern", following the aesthetic theme set by the headlights.

The highly praised interior of the outgoing Continental GT has for the most part been retained for the new car. This means beautiful veneer finished with metal accents, fine leather, and elegant architecture throughout. As with the outgoing model, there will be the option of a rotating center display, one that rotates between a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a trio of analog gauges, and a beautiful piece of handcrafted veneer that aligns with the design of the dashboard. The digital instrumentation has been redesigned, as has the software for the center display. However, with the exception of the new E mode button, there isn't much to write home about the interior of the new Continental GT. And that is in no way a flaw, given the interior of the previous Continental was already one of the finest cabins in the automotive industry.

The Continental's convertible cousin, the GTC has also been launched along with the coupe. Along with the additional weight and added cost, the Continental GTC has a slightly lower top speed than the coupe, being limited to 177 mph. Despite the difference in mass, Bentley claims it only takes the GTC one-tenth of a second longer to accelerate from zero to 60 mph, 3.2 seconds versus the coupe’s 3.1 seconds.
At the moment, the new Continental GT and GTC have debuted with only one powertrain option. However, that Bentley has used the "Speed Badge", which is traditionally reserved for the top model, should suggest that lower, less expensive models will likely follow soon.
